Breed: Mountain Feist

Meet Ty, a 6 year old mountain feist mix.  This sweet boy is looking for a forever home.  Ty is neutered, house trained, very sweet and eager to please. Ty has been diagnosed as a diabetic and does require insulin shots twice a day.  He is otherwise in very good health and has no issues with taking his shots.  (A short training session with Ty’s veterinarian can be scheduled at no cost if desired)

Ty does suffer from separation anxiety and needs to be crated if he’s inside when you’re not around until he is very comfortable in his new home (took about 4 months for us).  Ty needs someone who can be patient and kind with his training – he does not do well with raised voices, sudden movements or negative reinforcement. Ty would likely not do well with younger children or in a boisterous home.  He does not always get along well with other dogs, but has not had any issues with cats.  Ty is used to living indoors, with access to a fenced in yard for play/exercise time. Ty is not an “active breed” and would not require excessive exercise.  He currently gets 30-60 minutes of play/exercise a day in a large fenced in yard (weather permitting).  He is leash trained, but prone to pulling and would need more training with it.  He enjoys car rides and does very well during them.

Ty bonds quickly with women – he would be a perfect match for someone who is home often and would like a companion to keep them company.
